About

Cultivating wisdom and personal growth through empathic collaboration

I am a clinical psychologist committed to helping adults who feel overwhelmed by stress and anxiety or stuck in negative feelings, substance misuse or compulsive behavior to get unstuck and to cultivate the hope and drive necessary to build a more fulfilling life. My approach is active, attuned, compassionate and experiential, helping clients to connect with genuine sources of meaning and motivation and developing new perspectives and ways of responding to distressing or discouraging thoughts and feelings. I have been trained in a number of therapeutic modalities and strive to be nimble and flexible in finding the most helpful approach for each client. That said, I draw heavily from the evidence-based orientations, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). I am passionate about psychotherapy, interested in the creative process of finding a unique path toward positive change with each client, and feel lucky to have the privilege of engaging with others in such meaningful and impactful work. If you are interested in scheduling a consultation with me, please call or click on the email link below to schedule a brief phone call to discuss your concerns. TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Prior to transitioning to private practice, from 2014 to 2023, I helped establish and then served as clinical director of CMC:Berkshires, a nationally respected residential program specializing in evidence-based treatment for substance use disorders and co-occurring issues. Prior to that, I worked for the Center for Motivation and Change (CMC) from 2006 - 2013, first as a post-doctoral fellow, then a staff psychologist, and then as director of CMC's outpatient office in Westchester, NY. I am a past-president of the executive committee for the New York State Psychological Association's Division on Addictions. I have given numerous talks on evidence-based treatments for substance use disorders, the use of medication assisted treatment in addressing substance use, the qualities of effective treatment, and evidence-based approaches to working with the family members of a substance-misusing loved one. I earned a PsyD in Clinical Psychology from the Rutgers Graduate School of Applied and Professional Psychology in 2006. My dissertation, completed in 2006, explored the integration of mindfulness and psychotherapy. From 2005 - 2006, I completed a post-doctoral fellowship in college mental health at NYU Counseling Center and stayed on as a part-time staff clinician for an additional year. From 2004 - 2005, I completed an APA accredited pre-doctoral internship through Columbia University and New York Presbyterian Hospital.
